Switch Between Two Basemap Styles

Enhance your map’s usability and visual appeal with the Basemap Toggle feature. This functionality allows viewers to seamlessly switch between two different basemap styles using a thumbnail conveniently located at the bottom of the map.

By default, your map opens with a primary basemap style. You can then add a secondary style, giving your audience more flexibility in how they explore your content.

Why use two basemaps?

Each basemap style highlights information differently. With the toggle, you can let users choose the view that best fits their needs:

  • Streets-style basemap – Displays detailed road networks, place names, and transportation information. Ideal for navigation and orientation.
  • Satellite imagery – Provides realistic aerial views of landscapes, landmarks, and terrain. Perfect for understanding the physical environment.
  • Simplified or minimal styles – Reduce visual noise and emphasize your own location data.
  • Terrain maps – Add context with elevation and natural features for outdoor and environmental projects.

This flexibility ensures your map communicates the right message while delivering an engaging experience.

Works across devices

The basemap toggle is designed for both large screens and mobile devices, so your users can switch views wherever they are, without extra steps or clutter.
