How to Enable the Favorites Feature?

Follow these simple steps to enable and customize the Favorites feature for your map:

1. Create a New Category
2. Name the Category
   • Recommended name: “Favorites”
   • Tip: Use a localized translation if needed
3. Enable the Favorites Toggle
   • Locate the Favorites section and switch on the toggle to activate the feature.
4. Customize the Marker Appearance
   • We recommend using a yellow star as the category icon to ensure visibility and intuitive interaction. Recommended settings:
     • Shape: Floating
     • Color: Vibrant Yellow (#FFD700)
     • Icon: Star icon. Search for “favorites” in the icon library and select the star icon.
       
5. Position the Category
   • Position the Favorites category at either the top or bottom of the list for maximum visibility. When placed at the top, Favorites locations will appear on the map with the yellow star marker.
   • The Favorites category is visible even when no locations are bookmarked.

Pro Tip:  Let your user know about the Favorites feature. Add a short blurb in the description of the Favorites category. For example, Bookmark your favorites with the Star icon ⭐

User Experience: How Favorites Work?

Adding and Managing Favorites

• When users open a location, a star icon appears in the toolbar.
• Clicking the star adds the location to their Favorites list.
• Clicking again removes the location from Favorites.

Accessing Favorites

• The Favorites list can be accessed from the map home screen via the category legend.

How is the Favorites Data Saved?

Favorites are stored locally on the user’s device, which means:

• The list remains available even after closing and reopening the browser (except in private browsing mode).

• On Safari, favorites are only saved in regular browsing mode. In Private Mode, the list is cleared when the browser is closed.

• Favorites are not synced across devices or browsers. Each device and browser maintains its own separate list.
