User Roles & Permissions

With role-based access to your maps, you have full control over who can do what in your account—giving you enhanced security and flexibility.

What Are Roles?

Roles define what each team member is allowed to do within your account. For example, some users can edit and publish maps, while others may only view them.

Available Roles

The table below summarizes all available roles, their capabilities, and typical use cases.

Permissions by Role

The table below outlines the detailed permissions available for each role.

How to Assign Roles

To assign a role to a teammate:

  1. Go to the Teammates page in your account settings.
  2. Click the Role dropdown next to the user’s name and select the appropriate role.

Tip: Assign roles carefully to control access to sensitive content or publishing rights.

For roles with access restricted by map (Collaborator, Contributor, Viewer), you also need to specify which maps the user can access:

  1. Click the Manage button under Map Access.
  2. A list of maps will be displayed.
  3. Maps already assigned to the user are listed at the top with checkboxes.
  4. Click a map to assign it to the user.
  5. You will be redirected to the map’s access settings page.
  6. Select the user by clicking on the checkbox next to its name

Inviting a New User

When you invite a new user, they are automatically given the Editor role, which grants access to all maps in the account. You can update their role and assign specific maps after the invitation.
