Adding Videos to Your Interactive Map

Adding Videos to Your Interactive Map

You can easily enhance any location on your interactive map by adding video content. Mapme supports both embedded videos from popular streaming platforms and direct video file uploads, allowing you to create rich, engaging map experiences. View an example interactive map featuring videos

There are three ways to add video content to your map:

YouTube and Vimeo Integration

Mapme provides built-in support for YouTube and Vimeo. Simply paste the video URL, and the platform will automatically embed the video.

  • Supports standard YouTube videos and YouTube Shorts
  • Automatically generates thumbnails for list views and mobile swipe layouts

Important: Videos must be publicly accessible. Videos with privacy restrictions (such as private Vimeo links with tokens or protected content) may not play correctly.

Uploading Video Files

You can upload your own video files directly to any map location, giving you full control over your content.

Supported Formats

  • MP4
  • WebM
  • MOV

Upload Limits

  • Maximum file size: 100 MB

Video Thumbnails

  • MP4 and WebM uploads automatically generate a thumbnail from the first frame
  • Thumbnails appear in list views and mobile swipe layouts
  • Note: Thumbnails are not generated for MOV files.
A play-button placeholder will be displayed instead

Autoplay and Sound Behavior

To ensure an optimal user experience, videos follow these playback rules:

  • Location detail card: Autoplay enabled, muted by default
  • Media gallery: Autoplay enabled with sound

Video thumbnails do not autoplay in list views or in the mobile compact card view.

Embeds from Other Streaming Services

Mapme also supports video embeds from additional platforms using the Embeds feature. Supported services include:

  • TikTok
  • Wistia
  • Loom

Thumbnails are not generated automatically for third-party embeds.
You can upload a custom image to use as the video thumbnail instead.
