Call-to-Action Buttons

Call-to-action buttons, or CTAs, help map visitors take the next step directly from your interactive map. You can add CTA buttons in two main places:

  • On the map home screen
  • On individual location pages

CTA buttons support three types of actions:

  • Web link — open a web page
  • Phone link — start a phone call
  • Email link — start an email

The CTA button is sticky, so it remains visible even when a location has a long description.

Why use call-to-action buttons?

CTA buttons make it easier for visitors to act while exploring your map. They can help increase engagement, drive traffic, collect submissions, or support conversions.

Common CTA examples include:

  • Visit Website
  • Buy Now
  • Book Now
  • Learn More
  • Contact Us
  • Set Appointment
  • Add a Location
  • Call Us
  • Email Support

With Mapme reports and analytics, you can track clicks on your call-to-action buttons.

For web links, you can choose how the link opens when a visitor clicks the CTA button:

  • New tab — opens the link in a new browser tab
  • Same tab — opens the link in the same tab as the map
  • Modal — opens the link in a window on top of the map

The modal option is useful when you want visitors to view external content without leaving the map experience.

Example of a call-to-action button opening content on a Mapme map

To create a web link CTA button:

  • Enter a valid URL starting with https://. URLs using http:// are not supported.
  • Enter the button label. If you leave the label empty, the default text is Learn More.
  • Select the opening mode: New Tab, Same Tab, or Modal.

Phone call-to-action buttons

Phone CTA buttons allow visitors to start a phone call directly from the map.

On mobile devices, tapping the button opens the phone app with the number ready to dial. On desktop, some browsers may allow users to place the call through a connected mobile device or calling app.

To create a phone CTA, enter the phone number using the tel: prefix.

Example: tel:+19145682478

For international numbers, include the country code.

Email call-to-action buttons

Email CTA buttons allow visitors to start an email directly from the map.

When a visitor clicks the button, their email app opens with the recipient address already filled in.

You can also create advanced email links that include:

  • Multiple recipients
  • CC and BCC recipients
  • A subject line
  • Default email body text

For advanced email links, you can use an online mailto link generator.

Open a URL directly from a marker or location list

In some cases, you may want visitors to go directly to an external website instead of opening the location details panel.

Mapme provides two separate options:

  • Open external URL on marker click — opens the location’s action URL when a map marker is clicked.
  • Open external URL on click in list — opens the location’s action URL when a location is clicked in a category list or search results.

You can enable these options in the Action Buttons settings.

Customization

You can customize the color and transparency of CTA buttons from the Mapme Editor.

Go to: Settings > Colors > Call-to-Action Buttons

For more advanced styling, you can use Custom CSS to customize button size, corner radius, shadows, and other visual details.
