You can easily create call-to-action buttons (CTA’s) on your interactive maps. You can add call-to-action buttons in different map contexts:
- on the map home
- for each location on your map
The call-to-action button supports 3 different types of interactions:
- Web link to open a web page
- Phone link to automatically dial a phone number
- Email link to start an email
The call-to-action button is designed to be sticky so it is always visible even in locations with long descriptions.
Why use call-to-action buttons
Call-to-action buttons encourage your visitors to take action while interacting with your map and help convert your audiences toward your goals. Here are some common examples of call-to-actions:
- Visit Website
- Buy now
- Book Now
- Learn More
- Contact Us
- Set Appointment
- Add a Location
- Call us
- Email support
With the Mapme reports and analytics, you can track your call-to-actions conversion.
Web links call-to-actions
For web links, you can decide how you would like the user to interact with your call-to-action on your map. The options are:
- In a new tab
- In the same tab as the map
- In a modal (window on top of the map)
The modal option lets you open any content on the map. For example, you can open a website within your interactive map. To create web links buttons, follow those simple steps:
- Enter a valid URL starting with https://. Note that URLs without SSL support (http://) are not valid.
- Enter the button label (the text on the button). If you leave it empty, the default is “Learn More”
- Select the opening mode, New Tab, Same Tab, or Modal.
Phone links call-to-actions
When the user taps on the button on their mobile, the phone app is automatically launched and the phone number displays, ready to be dialed. On desktops, if the user’s browser is connected to their mobile phone, the user can choose to initiate the call on the mobile phone. To create a call link, enter the phone number with the prefix tel: Here is an example: tel: 914 568 2478 For international numbers, you must include the country code: tel:+33 914 568 2478
Email links call-to-actions
When the user taps on the button, the email app is automatically launched and an email is started with the recipient’s email address. You can create advanced email links with
- Multiple recipients, CC, and BCC
- Subject lines
- Content for the email body

Directly open a URL when clicking on a marker
In certain situations, you may wish to provide your map users with the option to navigate directly to an external website when they click on a marker. You can easily enable this behavior using the setting “Open external URL on marker click“. Check the guide to create markers with direct external links.
Customization
You can easily set the color and transparency of your action buttons from the Mapme Editor. Go to: Settings > Colors > Call to action-to-buttons.
With Custom CSS you can further customize the buttons. For example, you can change the size, corner radius, and shadows of the buttons.
