Mapme gives you powerful tools to control how markers look and behave on your map. You can apply these settings at either the category level or for individual locations.
For streamlined management and consistent visuals, we recommend setting marker options at the category level. This ensures that all locations within a category share the same appearance and behavior. If needed, you can override these settings at the location level to apply custom styles or behavior to specific markers.

Visibility Controls
You can choose from three visibility settings:
- Show: This is the default setting. The marker is always visible on the map.
- Hide: The marker is not shown on the map, but the associated location content still appears in the side panel. This setting is only available at the location level.
- Zoom level: Display the marker only within a specific zoom range.
How to customize visibility
For individual locations:
Open the location you want to customize, then go to the Marker Appearance & Behavior section. Select your desired visibility setting.
For categories:
Open the category you want to customize, then go to the Category and Marker Display section. You’ll find both the Always and Zoom Range visibility options there.
Appearance & Interactivity
You can control how markers look and how users interact with them. The following options are available:
- Label: Displays the location name above the marker when selected or hovered (hover is desktop-only). This can be disabled—for example, when using Visual Markers.
- Halo: Adds a glowing halo around the marker when hovered or selected. You can disable this animation if preferred.
- Click on marker: By default, clicking or tapping a marker opens its location content in the panel. You can disable this to make the marker non-clickable.
- Display content: Each location can show rich content (name, description, media, etc.) in the side panel. Disable this if you want the marker to appear on the map without displaying any content.
How to customize appearance & interactivity
For individual locations:
Open the location you want to customize, then go to the Marker Appearance & Behavior section to adjust the settings.
For categories:
Open the category you want to customize, then go to the Category and Marker Display section to configure the appearance and interactivity options.
